“Information Technology Disruption” – Nigerian Computer Society Lagos Chapter to Hold Conference & Awards Day
In view of its mission to drive the employment of information technology as a tool for national development, the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has set in motion activities for its yearly conference and award for outstanding individuals in the practice and science of information technology.
With the ideal theme “Information Technology: Tool for Sustainable Development”, this year’s event is scheduled to have in attendance Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Executive Governor of Lagos State as Special Guest of Honour; Mr. James Etim Amana, MD/CEO, MIS Group, Mr. Niyi Ajao, Executive Director of NIBSS as special guests, alongside other notable personalities.
The event scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Lagos Digital Village, Alausa, will feature relevant insights on “Information Technology Disruption and Responsibility” to be presented by Mr. Adeolu Okanlawon.
According to Mr. Kunle Oladipupo, member, Credential Committee and Chairman, Events and Trade, at the Chapter, the conference’s theme, was inspired by the need to address multi-faceted challenges faced in the present-day society with Nigeria in focus.
“Technology offers us a leeway to finding lasting solution to many challenges faced by the society today, especially in job creation. So, the Lagos Chapter of NCS views this as another opportunity to brainstorm on this solutions that Government must be part of it”, he said.
Key feature of this prestigious event are the notable awards to be presented to a rigorously selected number of individuals which include: the Don Etiebet Innovative Prize Award for outstanding Tech Startups, Sidmach Prize Award for Outstanding Lagos State Students in WAEC and 2017 Golden Names Award for Exceptional NCS Leaders.
