Celebrating an Icon of Progressive Development – Olangwa Ezekwu (Esq), from International Law Practice to Championing Local Development in Enugu State

Soft-spoken yet strict and a stickler for due process, are some of the attributes that best describe the current Special Adviser to the Enugu State Government on Diaspora and Special Projects.

With an evident passion for empowering the less privileged within her sphere of influence, Barr. Olangwa Ezekwu upon her appointment has tirelessly put in effort towards fostering a progressive partnership between the Enugu state Government under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and her indigenes in the Diaspora towards driving sustainable local development for the state at-large (home based indigenes and settlers from other states).

Popularly hailed as “Okwulu Okalisia”, the delectable towering beauty from Akama Oghe Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu state is a United States of America licensed attorney, with several endeavors in business and developmental consultancy.

A frugal government office holder, she has been known to turn down initiatives or projects that are frivolous for which she had gotten several backlash from aggrieved persons. Despite these occurrences, she has maintained an open-door policy which has attracted tangible impact projects that have been beneficial to the residents and citizens of the state.

True to her personal objective, which is to provide support where possible to help others advance, she has been able to support the activation of key projects in the area of medical missions, skill acquisition, economic empowerment opportunities and educational advancement.

Most recently is her facilitation of the initiative which led to the donation of various specialized medical equipment worth over N50m by Soroptimist International of Enugu Coal City, in collaboration with indigenes of the state in the diaspora and a number of foreign-based humanitarian agencies.

Enugu state through her office can best serve as a template for activating sustainable Public-Private-Partnership, which is an ideal and feasible approach towards advancing national development, as we have Nigerians progressively positioned in every corner of the world.
